I love your site and the addition of the personal style is a great options. A few suggestions if you'd like...I teach new product development at NYU... www.davidgoldsmith.com #1 I would like the option of selecting how many bags I can see at a time. Nine is good but the ability to change the count would be great. #2 I think that purchasing bags is a tough decision without trying them on. If you could add a photo, when you can, of the product in use by someone the buyer can then get a better perspective as to sizing. Might also cut down on returns. #3 With the current economy you might also want to add the option of resale where a customer, and they must be a customer, can list their own bags for sale and you get a cut. In line with the bag rentals I've seen.

Again, love the site and thanks for reading.

After reading your blog from time to time, it inspired me to think about personal style. I recently re launched our website and put in an area so that you can shop by personal style. I noticed that we are one of the few online stores that have an area that allows you to shop for products that really fit who you are and how you see yourself. thanks for the inspiration. We sell laptop bags for women and have wonderful selection. Take a look and let me know your thoughts

I just wanted to say hello and thank you every so much for the reference to Town Shop (located on Broadway between 81st and 82nd Street in New York).

That store is the best. The sales people know what they are doing. It is not like Victoria Secret's or Macy's where the sales people do not assist you.

Town Shop in my opinion are very knowledgeable in lingerie. It amazed me on how they have an eye for such detail.

I just want to give you my deepest thank for your reference and experience.

A Happy Woman!

Comment on Loose Bra Syndrome – Tip #5 by admin

Julie,

Let me first give you the name and location of the #1 place to get a bra fitting in the US. It's The Town Shop in NYC. They've literally worked with hundreds of thousands of woman since Samuel Koch opened the store in 1888. This is my first choice and when woman travel to learn how to shop with me in NYC, this is where we go.

Their address is

2273 Broadway (between 81st/82nd Sts.)
New York, NY 10024
Phone: (212) 787–2762
Email: townshop2@aol.com

The question I know you're now asking is, "If I'm not going to be visiting New York City in the near future, what do I do?"

A more challenging question than you might believe given that I've witnessed some pretty pathetic attempts by other retailers to deliver the same quality fit.

So here are some choices.
#1 Try to do it yourself. Not the best approach but a start.

Start by tightly measuring yourself under your breast.
Then measure around your fullest part of your breast to get your cup size.

Calculate the difference and if the difference is:
1" you are an A cup
2" you are an B cup
3" you are an C cup
4" you are an D cup
5" you are an DD cup
6" you are an DDD cup

You can already guess this is not the best technique given that each woman's body and breast shape is different.

#2 You can try another store in your area such as Nordstrom's or Saks. If these are not available you could also try JC Penny's or Macy's as second tier.

Lastly, I would avoid using Victoria's secret for your fitting. The staff are not well trained, their bra selection is limited, and the quality of bras offered does not compare to what is used in stores such as The Town Shop. Once you have the fitting, you can then shop where you'd like to shop with the new information and a feel for what is fits right.

David:

Where would you recommend one could go to get a good fitting? I was thinking maybe Victoria's Secret, since most of the merchandise there is undergarments?

Thanks, Julie

Beth,

Yes, shoes are an issue when it comes to travel especially for women. I've written a blog entry TIP #12 that will post in the next few weeks to address your concern.
